"Helping Children Play Their Way to a Better Future"
Story Behind our Cause
It is very important to me that you know the story behind Tennis For a Better Life Foundation and for what the reason we are doing this.
Many years ago, as a young boy in a small town in Benin, Africa, I (Paul Segodo) was given a racquet and a tennis ball. Little did I know these two things were going to be my ticket to a better life. At the age of nine, I was offered a tennis and education scholarship to come to the United States and train at the International Tennis Academy (ITUSA). After traveling and participating in many tournaments including representing my country in the Davis Cup, at the age of eighteen I decided to pursue a college education. I received a full tennis scholarship to Palm Beach Atlantic University, and earned my B.S. degree. Today, I am using a tennis racquet and tennis ball to earn my living.
With the opportunity that was given to me by many caring people and by God, I was able to play my way to a better life. I would like to extend the same opportunity to other children who are less fortunate like I was but very gifted in the game of tennis. With your help, we can see these children play their way to a better life.. With your donations, Tennis for a Better Life will run weekly tennis clinics, provide racquet and tennis shoes, organize tournaments, feed the children at each event, and resurface old and build new tennis courts.
Our goal is to provide tennis and education scholarships to the children whose parent can't not afford to send them to school. At Tennis for a better life we value education and believe it can break the chain of poverty; and in most cases the only means out of poverty for these children and their families. With your partnership, we can transform lives and make a difference in children's future. Help us to give what these children will consider an opportunity of a life time.
Please join me on the journey of changing lives, creating hope, and giving children a chance of a better Life.
Sincerely,
Paul Segodo
President
